MagnaChip Semiconductor Corp. has rolled out a high efficiency, AC direct-drive 4W/8W LED lighting driver targeting consumer LED products.

The device cuts the need for a separate AC line converter circuit and other neighboring circuits. It offers PF higher than 0.95 and THD below 27 percent, thus saving energy. The 4W LED product has the brightness of a 30W incandescent light bulb while the 8W LED product is equivalent to a 60W bulb.

The device also addresses the heat generation problems typical in LED lighting by using an LGA package with heat dissipation characteristics.

The LED lighting driver also has an embedded bridge diode to manage AC voltage and current and is available in both 110 and 220 voltages. MagnaChip plans to expand its product offering of AC direct drive types by releasing AC-DC and DC-AC conversion type LED lighting drivers.

The LED lighting driver, which features an embedded bridge diode to manage AC voltage and current, is available in 110V and 220V.
