Broadband show discusses opportunities in Asia

The Broadband-IP&TV Asia 2012 event is currently underway in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The two-day conference, sponsored by Informa Telecom & Media, looks into the monetization opportunities of the market and showcases creative ideas from emerging players.

A pre-event focus group kick-started the conference on May 14, where James Angelone, CEO of Jalur Lebar Nasional Sdn Bhd (National Broadband Perspective), was the opening speaker and discussed broadband infrastructure as a foundation for socio-economic growth, focusing on the interdependency of various ecosystemssocial, economic, political, financial and industrial.

Brown: The Asia Pacific region contains some of the most exciting emerging broadband markets.

Tony Brown, senior analyst at Informa and chair of the discussion said, "The Asia Pacific region contains some of the most exciting emerging broadband markets in the world, with sub-continental markets like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh containing huge untapped growth potential. South East Asian territories, including Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam present the same opportunities. The Emerging Market Experience Exchange will provide the perfect platform for in depth and targeted discussion."

Brown presented business models for emerging players in the region, including the growth opportunities in the emerging markets, technology choices, new revenue streams as well as an evaluation of existing business models.
