Embedded computing solutions provider Kontron has announced that an inaugural meeting was held for the Standardization Group for Embedded Technologies e.V (SGET). This standardization group has been established for purposes of creating standards for embedded computing. The organization aims to speed up the development of new standards for embedded hardware and software.

Representatives from twenty three companies, such as Advantech Co. Ltd, Congatec AD, Data Modul Inc., Kontron AG, MSC Embedded Inc. and SECO srl, have signed up to support the founding principles during the inaugural meeting. These companies will form various work results, such as implementation guidelines, software interfaces or system requirements. These compilations of results will in turn serve the purpose of energy efficiency, environmental protection and effective science and technology.

SGET chairman Engelbert H?rmannsdorfer stated that aside from focusing on concerns with board manufacturing, they will also tackle related issues such as software. He further pointed out that the SGET is well aware of the importance of software, as it plays a key role in enabling compatibility and interchangability.

The standardization group will use communication channels such as its official website as well as blogs, newsletters and social networking avenues. The group has also extended invitations to other companies that would like to make contributions in related fields.
