Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has launched the VCUT07B1-n bidirectional symmetrical (BiSy) single-line ESD protection diode that offers 14pF capacitance in a 1 x 0.6 x 0.38mm LLP1006-2L package. The diode is designed to cut board space for ESD protection in portable electronics, including notebook computers and smartphones.

At a working voltage of 7V, the diode offers a high isolation to ground characterized by a The short leads and small size of the LLP1006-2L package enable a diode with very low line inductance, allowing fast transients such as ESD strikes to be clamped with minimal over- or undershoots.

The device also provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC 61000-4-2 at 30kV (air and contact discharge) and high surge current protection according to IEC 61000-4-5 at 4A. The device is Pb-free and complies with RoHS 2011/65/EU and Vishay "Green" environmental specifications. Soldering can be checked by standard vision inspection, with no X-ray necessary.

Samples of the VCUT07B1-HD1 are available now. Production quantities will be available in 4Q12, with lead times of eight to 10 weeks for larger orders.
