Keywords:connected car system? telematics penetration? automotive market?

An increase from 11.4 percent in 2012 to 60.1 percent in 2017 is expected from the penetration of Global OEM connected car system. Aside from the projected 80 percent increase by 2017 from North American and European OEMs, developing regions such as Latin America and Eastern Europe will also experience strong increases in telematics penetration in new vehicles. Most of the increases in Latin America and Eastern Europe will be driven by Brazil and Russia.

Innovations in in-car connectivity are still transforming the automotive industry. These innovations have enabled passive and active security, offered infotainment and connected lifestyle services to consumers. These innovations also enabled new car ownership, usage and experience modes such as car sharing, semi-autonomous driving, dynamic demand-response electric vehicle pricing and customer and vehicle relationship management services.

According to a recent consumer survey by ABI research, despite various innovations, the automotive industry still faces the issues of cost and lack of awareness.

ABI Research's "Connected Car" market database provides detailed forecasts of embedded, hybrid, and converged connectivity solutions including subscribers, service revenue, and hardware shipments and revenues for the United States, Canada, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Africa and The Middle East.
