IDT is seeing great potential in the development of technologies pertaining to wireless charging, said Ting, noting that demand for wireless charging applications are likely to experience an explosive expansion after the summer of 2012 during which Japan-based handset vendors are scheduled to launch as many as 18 models supporting wireless charging.
Being the first vendor to roll out SoC solutions for wireless chargers, and with the products having been widely adopted by PC peripherals and handset makers, IDT is set to continue to prosper in the segment in the next few years, Ting asserted.
With regard to the roll-out of the Surface tablet PC by Microsoft, Ting said that the move by Microsoft to launch Window RT-based tablet PCs is a complementary project aiming to ramp up the Windows-based tablet ecosystem in cooperation with Taiwan-based OEMs and ODMs.
Since Microsoft is still dominating the business software market, the move by Microsoft will benefit Taiwan's PC supply chain over the medium- to long-term, Ting commented.
