According to a report by Digitimes, Chungwa Picture Tubes (CPT) has anticipated an upsurge in small-sized panel production because of the rise in demand for low-end smartphones in China's market, according to sources.

In China, Phones have been priced at an average of $157. These phones have also experienced an increase in demand due to the country's stable economic growth. CPT said that increasing shipments with small and medium-sized panels for tablets and smartphones have made them optimistic about sales figures in 3Q12. Additionally, operations will continue to improve as the demand for smartphones in China grows even more.

Presently, China has been considered the world's largest smartphone market. Among the one billion cellphone users in the region, 30 percent are smartphones users. This would indicate that the country is a prime market for phone vendors, allowing them to capitalize on the country's smartphone profits. This fact would also allow panel makers to increase their small-sized panel shipments.

This could also benefit Taiwan-based parts suppliers as they are main players in the China smartphone supply chain.

CPT aims to deliver 80 million smartphone shipments for 2012. Additionally, CPT hopes to reach 500-600 million small and medium-sized panel shipments for this year, in an endeavor to maintain its spot as the number one maker of small to medium-size panels in the world.
