A*STAR institute of Microelectronics (IME) has signed a research collaboration agreement with Delta Networks, Inc. to develop a meta-material (MTM) antenna for wireless applications that could improve performance with reduced power and cost.

Utilizing the unique properties of meta-materials, IME researchers will develop a novel antenna that offers improvements in gain and radiation efficiency. Moreover, the development endeavors to reduce power consumption and fabrication costs.

The partnership will utilize IME's expertise to develop design techniques that are suitable for wireless technology for high performance networking products.

"The proliferation of new Internet-based applications is pushing the need for networking products that deliver faster speeds over larger areas with greater reliability," said Chairman of Delta Networks, Inc Victor Cheng. "Leveraging IME's exceptional research strength will enable us to develop innovative solutions to meet the increasing demands of performance in antenna technology."
