ITE, IDT reach licensing agreement for USB 2.0 controller

ITE Tech Inc. has executed a licensing agreement with IDT for use of certain solid-state oscillator patents required in design of their Integrated USB 2.0 Flash Drive Controller. The patent license agreement includes use of certain IDT timing patents. ITE approached IDT for the license in hopes of strengthening the competitiveness of its USB 2.0 flash drive controller.

Fred Zust, IDT's general manager for its timing and synchronization division at IDT, stated that the company is pleased to see ITE's acknowledgment and licensing of its IP. IDT will actively seek and rectify patent infringements related to ITE's solid-state oscillator IP.

Chanson Lin, a general manager at ITE, stated that his company recognized that some portions of IDT's timing IP will be essential for USB controllers, and licensing the patents were the right thing to do for its customers and shareholders. Both companies stated that the agreement was crafted in hopes of ensuring their continued success.
