Slark bullish on infotech
Slark was particularly bullish on Molex's position in the infotech market, which accounted for 26 percent of annual revenue and chalked up 5 percent sales gains in fiscal 2012. Molex serves this market with high-speed interconnect products and next-generation backplanes and I/Os. It also demonstrated the industry's first single chip CMOS photonics-based 100 Gbit/s optical interconnect to support next-generation cloud computing, data center and high performance computing connectivity.

It also expanded its range of power products in this area with micro-miniature interconnects and antennas for mobile phones, MP3 players, tablets, and other devices with space constraints.

To support product development, Molex is expanding its operations in China, doubling the size of its facility in Vietnam, and plans to open a new plant in the Philippines in March. Its focus, however, is to strengthen its position in Korea where some of its key customers reside.

"When you look at the environment going forwards, it's pretty, apparent that you'll see the IOS platform to continue to be successful, android platform be successful, jury is still out whether the Windows 8 and its partner is going to succeed. Our key is to make sure we are selling to everyone with successful platforms," Slark said.
