From the application perspective, the shipment of TV panels reached 18.44 million units with a MoM growth of 4.6 percent due to the promotion activities of energy saving products by Chinese TV brands for National Day Holidays and the small scales of restocking activities among other international brands. The shipment of monitor panels has dropped to 13.56 million units with a MoM regression of 0.8 percent. The quarterly financial settlements of some NB brands have led to inventory adjustments in July such that the shipment of regular NB panels over 12.1in has dropped to 16.53 million units with MoM regression of six percent. The shipment of tablet panels has reached 11.38 million units with MoM growth of four percent supported by the shipment to the supply chain of Surface and Nexus 7. The shipment of netbook panels has dropped to 2.97 million units with a MoM regression of 11.7 percent.
Looking forward to the shipment of large-sized panels in August, there should be room for 3-5 percent of MoM growth. As indicated by Jeffy Chen, research manager of WitsView, with the exception of continuously stagnant demand for netbook panels, the overall shipment of TV panels should continue to grow due to the stimulation from seasonal factors and the support by Energy Saving Products Subsidy by the Chinese government. The shipment of monitor panels should enjoy a MoM growth of more than five percent benefitting from the restocking among downstream brands. After a wave of order adjustments in July, the entire supply chain of regular NB has been ready for the final sprint for the market entry of Win8 such that there is a MoM growth of 4-5 percent for regular NB panels. In addition to the continuous volumetric shipment outputs by various products such as Nexus 7, Surface, and Kindle Fire 2, the supply chain shipment for the highly anticipated 7.85in panel for iPad mini has been rumored to officially start in August, such that the scale of overall shipment of tablet panels will continue to expand.
