Employees who protested claimed they were not made aware of the details of their dismissal and no negotiations were conducted. Motorola, however, insisted that the company was terminating jobs in accordance with state laws and providing compensation higher than the national standard.
As per the revised compensation package, laid-off staff will now receive their salaries through September 20, cash conversion of unused mandatory leaves as well as housing allowance up until their last day of work. Dozens of employees still refused to sign labor termination agreements. Motorola claims the holdouts are mostly employees who've been with the company for over ten years and are primarily disputing pension settlements.
