6WIND has announced of the 6WINDGate packet processing software for the LSI Axxia communication processor family. According to the companies, the hardware/software combination gives network OEMs with a pre-integrated solution for accelerating networking functions while reducing product development costs and speeding time-to-market.

The Axxia communication processor 3400 family is geared to deliver the deterministic, reliable performance and low power consumption required by data-intensive mobile, cloud and enterprise networks, stated the company. The 6WINDGate packet processing software provides Axxia customers with a comprehensive range of optimised data plane protocols and a full set of control plane modules.

The collaboration between LSI and 6WIND offers network OEMs a pre-integrated solution that enables a more efficient and faster customisation of hardware platforms. The companies added that the team up allows easy migration to the Axxia platform for OEMs that already use the 6WINDGate software. In addition, they claim to deliver a simplified system creation and deployment for OEMs by combining the switching, control and transport functions of the Axxia platform with 6WINDGate software.

To help OEMs meet accelerated time-to-market goals, 6WINDGate supports LSI Axxia reference designs, allowing OEMs to rapidly develop and prototype systems. It includes a comprehensive suite of optimised, high-performance Layer 2 through 4 protocols that represent a complete data plane solution for networking equipment, eliminating the need to integrate protocols from multiple suppliers.
