German DRAM manufacturer Swissbit AG has introduced its latest series of Industrial SATA II solid state drives (SSD). The X-500 series extends the company's industrial 2.5-inch SSD product line.

The storage solution achieves a data rate on SATA II of up to 240Mb/s and a 14,500 IOPS with 4k random accesses. The latest line of SDDs also features NCQ, TRIM, the ATA security set and in-field update.

To ensure the reliability, the company combines sophisticated mechanisms and augments these with the S.M.A.R.T. (self-monitoring, analysis and reporting technology) protocol, the lifetime monitoring tool or SDK and an efficient BCH-ECC (error correction code) unit.

The X-500 Series is available in storage densities from 16GB to 512GB as SLC (single level cell) and in MLC (multi-level cell) versions. For demanding applications, the SLC solution guarantees data preservation of ten years, the MLC version five years according to the JEDEC standard. The X-500 SSDs can be used in a temperature range from -40 to 85C and afford a high level of shock and vibration resistance.
