Cypress Semiconductor Corp. has revealed that Iton Technology has selected Cypress' 2.4GHz WirelessUSB-NL radio-on-a-chip for its complete module for wireless mice. According to the company, the module includes firmware, providing customers with a turnkey solution to create their own end-products. The low power consumption of the WirelessUSB-NL solution helps the module enable mice to operate for up to three years on two AA batteries, flaunted the company.

WirelessUSB-NL claims to deliver a long operating range of up to 20m. The Iton module also integrates a sensor and Cypress' enCoRe V low-voltage companion MCU to provide a complete solution for wireless mice, and it employs an enCoRe II MCU for the USB dongle.

The WirelessUSB-NL device features very low active and standby current (less than 1uA), and it has a closed-loop radio architecture that minimizes signal frequency drift for very robust radio performance. The solution leverages -87dBm receive sensitivity to enable longer range operation. With the robust interference immunity of Cypress' WirelessUSB technology, the WirelessUSB-NL device delivers best-in-class performance in the presence of interference from WiFi, Bluetooth, cordless phones, microwaves and other common sources operating in the 2.4GHz range.

WirelessUSB-NL is complemented by Cypress' enCoRe II and enCoRe V low-voltage, highly integrated MCUs, offering manufacturers a single source of supply and support. WirelessUSB-NL also supports Cypress' AgileHID protocol that allows existing WirelessUSB customers to get started quickly on their designs without any additional effort, added the firm.
