Acer continues brand consolidation, folds up eMachines brand

According to a recent report by DIGITIMES, Acer has discontinued the operations of the eMachines brand. Acer bought in the brand after it acquired it from Gateway.

Acer said it will continue its ongoing brand-consolidating process slated for completion in three years. The move was in line with the company's streamlining policy which company chairman JT Wang unveiled at the end of 2011.

In addition to its own Acer brand, the Taiwanese PC vendor also operates other brands, which include Gateway, Packard Bell and Founder targeting different consumer segments and regional markets.
