Interface-converter bridge LSI aimed at LCDs

Toshiba Corp. has unveiled a MIPI-DSI to LVDS interface-converter bridge LSI geared for LCDs of mobile devices such as tablets and Ultrabooks. The devices support panel resolutions up to WUXGA (1920 x 1200 x 24bit @ 60fps), added the company.

According to Toshiba, the interface bridge changes the power supply operating voltage of the LVDS operating system from 3.3V to 1.8V, reducing the power consumption of the LSI to 30 per cent that of its current product. In addition, the devices boast maximum 1Gb/s/lane link speed MIPI-DSI interface and maximum 945Mb/s/lane link speed LVDS interface. The interface bridges also support RGB565/666/888 video input formats, noted Toshiba.

The single link TC358774XBG features power use of 42.92mW (720x480x18bit@26MHz) while the dual link TC358775XBG operates at 68.33mW (1366x768x18bit@85MHz). Respectively, they are available in FPGA49 5 x 5mm 0.65mm pitch and FPGA64 6 x 6mm 0.65mm pitch.

Samples are available with mass production scheduled to start in March.
