IGBT module for AT-NPC 3-level 12-in-1
As a result of using the modules, the equipment will take up 60 per cent less mounting space than using a combination of conventional modules, stated Fuji Electric. The modules also integrate an AT-NPC 3-level conversion circuit realised with Fuji Electric's proprietary reverse-blocking IGBT (RB-IGBT) technology reducing power loss by half.3
The IGBT module provide product lineups equipped with solder pin or press-fit pin depending on customer's assembly line. Compared with 2-level IGBT under the following conditions: 20kVA inverter operating at 7kHz carrier frequency, 700V power supply and 30A output current (effective value). Likewise, the 3-level conversion circuit cuts switching loss because half of the power supply voltage in output swing by setting 3-level output voltage compared with the ordinal 2-level circuit. Furthermore, it reduces conduction loss by using Fuji Electric's proprietary RB-IGBTs, which eliminate reverse blocking diodes, noted the company. These improvements significantly reduce power loss and achieve high efficiency power conversion.
Geared for inverters, UPS, power conditioners for household-use photovoltaic systems, etc., the modules will be available in April.
