Gate driver comes with 3.3V LDO regulator

Fairchild Semiconductor has released a single, 2A low-side driver with an integrated 3.3V output voltage regulator that can power MCUs or ASICs as well as provide a strong gate drive for an external semiconductor switch. According to the company, the FAN3180 can save board space, reduce BOM costs and cut time to market for electrical designers.

The gate driver touts a 15mA output LDO with 1 per cent regulation at 25C, 2.5 per cent total variation, and peak gate drive capability of 2.8A sink and 2.5A source at VDD = 12V. The FAN3180 also offers controlled output pulses during start-up and shut-down, 23ns typical propagation delay times, and 19ns rise and 13ns fall times with 1nF load.

The device features the MillerDrive gate drive technology, 5-18V operating range and 200?A maximum standby supply current. In addition, the FAN3180 boasts a VON/VOFF UVLO of 4.75V/4.55V.

The FAN3180 operates from -40C to 125C and comes in a lead (Pb)-free green 5-pin SOT23 package. Samples are available upon request with delivery of 8-12 weeks ARO. The FAN3180 is priced at $0.60 in 1,000 piece quantities.
