Supertex Inc. has announced an open loop, current mode, universal high brightness LED driver IC. The HV9910C is geared for general and decorative LED lighting, flat panel display backlighting and other DC/DC or AC/DC input based applications, added the company.

HV9910C is an enhanced drop-in replacement to the HV9910B, designed to convert high voltage supplies (85-265VAC rectified) or (15-450VDC) to a constant current source for powering a string or a combination of strings of high brightness LEDs. It can be programmed to operate in either a constant frequency or constant off-time mode and includes a 15-450V linear regulator that allows it to work from a wide range of input voltages without the need for an external low voltage supply, detailed the company.

HV9910C is available in a lead(Pb)-free/RoHS compliant 8L SOICN and 16L SOICN package (HV9910CLG-G and HV9910CNG-G, respectively). Samples are available from stock. Lead-time for production quantities is 4-6 weeks, ARO. Pricing is $0.36 each for the HV9910CLG-G and $0.46 each for the HV9910CNG-G in 1K quantities.
