Base Rectifier Module boasts average current rating of 632A

IXYS Corportation recently revealed that its subsidiary IXYS UK Westcode has launched a new higher voltage rectifier diode in a dual isolated base module.

"This new diode module extends the maximum voltage rating offered in this outline by IXYS UK and is an excellent complement to the 3.6kV thyristor and thyristor/diode dual modules already available from IXYS UK in this package size," commented Frank Wakeman, IXYS UK's Marketing & Technical Support Manager.

The diodes, rated at up to 3600V, are encapsulated in the industry standard 149x60mm base plate housing. The diodes have an average current rating of 632A for a case temperature of 85 degrees centigrade and have a peak surge rating of 13kilo Amperes.

Junction to case thermal resistance for each diode is -273.088C per watt. The diode dice are fused to a metal disc for optimum thermal performance with a copper base plate and an all pressure contact construction for maximum reliability and ruggedness.

The diode is available in two voltage classes, 3kV and 3.6kV, and three different configurations: MDD (half bridge), MDA (common anode) and MDK (common cathode). Nomenclature is as standard for this product group from IXYS UK: Half bridge 3kV MDD630-30N2 & 3.6kV MDD630-36N2, Common anode 3kV MDA630-30N2 & 3.6kV MDA630-36N2 and Common cathode 3kV MDK630-30N2 & 3.6kV MDK630-36N2.

Devices are suitable for all rectifier diode applications requiring this current & voltage rating.
