TMR magnetic switch sensors boast ultra-low power

MultiDimension Technology (MDT) is set to introduce a new set of TMR magnetic switch sensors which feature a collection of outstanding performance benefits. The sensors are designed for battery powered smart flow meters.

The new additions to MDT's existing TMR sensor portfolio are the MMS2X1H omnipolar switch and MMS1X1H bipolar switch, for use in battery-powered magnetic sensor applications including smart flow meters and proximity switches. They feature ultra-low power consumption at 1.5?A in continuous operation, enabling high-speed measurement and extended battery life simultaneously. Unlike other magnetic switches that must employ power-cycling or sleeping modes to reduce power, the TMR magnetic switch sensors exhibit ultra-low power consumption during high-speed continuous operation.

MDT's CEO Dr. Song Xue stated that the company's new TMR magnetic switch sensors provide the best value to applications that are both power-critical and performance-demanding. They are the first-ever magnetic sensors that offer a unique combination of critical performance metrics. The collective benefit of ultra-low power and high-frequency operation in our TMR magnetic switch sensors is unprecedented. It is not possible with other existing magnetic sensor technologies, including Anisotropic Magnetoresistance (AMR), Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR), or the Hall Effect.

TMR technology has been widely used in the magnetic disc-drive industry. It has been proven a high-performance, power-efficient, cost-effective and dependable technology over the last decade. MDT is the first volume supplier that introduces advantages of TMR technology to the commercial magnetic sensor market in multiple product series, including TMR switch sensors, TMR linear sensors, TMR angle sensors, and TMR gear tooth sensors.
