Isabellenh¨¹tte recently announced the addition of a new BVN four-terminal resistor to its measuring resistor line-up. The company's new resistor comes in a small size between 3.3 and 4mm. It also boasts an extremely low temperature coefficient of less than 50ppm/K.
"It is difficult to produce low-ohmic resistors with values of less than 1m¦¸ that also have good temperature coefficients. The BVN has achieved it ¨C together with a size that is 25 per cent smaller than other resistors with similar performance," said Isabellenh¨¹tte's Thomas Otto.
The BVN can handle continuous loads of up to 100A with a resistance value of 0.5m¦¸. Overall, it has excellent stability over long periods and is suitable for a broad temperature range between -55 and 170¡ãC as well as for soldering temperatures of up to 350¡ãC. The BVN can also be mounted on a variety of circuit boards and substrates: It can be mounted on the traditional FR4 material used in most standard applications and on DCB ceramics for high-current applications.
The company's latest resistor is suitable for numerous automobile and industrial applications, such as frequency converters in drive technology and power modules in inverters, as measuring resistor in power hybrids, and for high-current applications in automobile technology. The components are ideally suited to use on ceramic substrates thanks to their excellent thermal-cycling resistance and the minimal footprint in high-current applications.
