Mouser Electronics has added a seventh location to its customer support centres here in Asia with the opening of a new office in Penang, Malaysia.

In the past few years, Penang has become one of the largest electronics manufacturing hubs in Asia with a solid base of research and development activities. Mouser aims to tap the growing community of design engineers and buyers in the region by offering localised services such as technical support as well as quick delivery of semiconductors and other electronic components. The Penang branch will join existing Mouser centres across major Asian cities such as Shanghai, Taipei, Singapore, Bengaluru and Bangkok.

"This is one of the fastest growing markets for us with over 30 per cent growth rate in APAC. We see great potential here, not only in the electronics manufacturing sector, but also in the areas where governments are placing huge investment, such as local infrastructure. When you take into account the well-educated, highly skilled workforce, and the high concentration of progressive engineering, manufacturing and high-tech companies, expanding Mouser's presence into Penang makes for a sound business strategy," said Mouser SVP of APAC Business Burr-Lonnon.
