CheckSum and Everett Charles Technologies (ECT) have joined forces to offer the Tilt 12KN universal-probe test system. According to the companies, the device delivers in-circuit coverage and increased throughput using Tilt fixturing at a low bed-of-nails tooling cost of about $2 per pin. The system itself costs 20-30 percent less than a typical flying prober and offers a cost-effective alternative for manufacturers that need to test a wide variety of active board types, typically built in small lot sizes, the companies indicated.

ECT's Tilt fixture design accommodates boards and components ranging from backplanes to microBGAs. Tilt's system interface and no-spring probes eliminate point-to-point wiring, enabling rapid fixture-construction turnaround. The 12KN fixture actuation system provides built-in dual-level capabilities for combining in-circuit and functional test, together with easy fixture changeover.
The Tilt 12KN system with integrated Tilt fixturing comes with 2500 or 5000 in-circuit test pins in a probe field of 58.4 x 43.4cm. Average price for a 2500-pin configuration is expected to be $150,000. Delivery is 90 days ARO.
