u-blox has unveiled a GPS/QZSS module under its Alpha Micro portfolio that integrates a satellite receiver IC, passives, and a pre-tuned GPS antenna in one package. It is designed for applications in devices including covert tracking, asset-tracking, animal and child tracking.

The PAM-7Q GPS/QZSS antenna module combines low-power consumption with high-sensitivity, sophisticated noise suppression and I2C / UART interfaces, making the integration of global positioning as simple as possible.

The module measures 22mmx22mmx8mm, which designers can integrate into their pre-existing designs or solder with a pin-header to a customised PCB. Through the integration of dual SAW filters, the 18mmx18mm patch antenna delivers a performance independent of orientation.

The module is targeted to industrial and consumer applications that require a small, fast and cost-efficient solution to GPS/QZSS positioning.
