SK Telecom has staged at the MCW its Context Platform, which deduces the user's condition or state through his smartphone's functions including camera, sensors, GPS and Wi-Fi.

In Context Platform, during instances when a user walks with the phone in his pocket, the device detects the user's repeated movement and speed via its sensors and GPS, and analyses the collected information through an algorithm to come up with the conclusion that the user is "in a walking situation." The repeated process of analysis refines the platform, enabling smartness and accuracy.

SK also showcased Life Log, a service developed on the Context Platform. Life Log automatically keeps track of the user's routine activities and allows him to later look up past records and statistics. Besides this application, the platform can be used to develop several other services optimised for each individual's lifestyle. For example, a user can have his T Map automatically activated right before he leaves for work, receive a list of recommended songs upon arrival at subway platform on his way home from work, and set up an alert that warns him if he is spending more money than usual.

While Context Platform generates highly personal information, SK Telecom said to take all steps necessary to safeguard the information. The company talked about developing ways to limit the access of this information through an application lock feature as well as a preselected information recording to prevent leakage of information.
