Capacitors feature up to 125oC capacitance stability

KEMET Corporation updates its flexible termination (FT-CAP) product portfolio with the addition of the High Voltage C0G multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) for applications in which high volumetric efficiency and resistance to thermal and board stress are critical.

The proprietary flexible termination system utilises a conductive epoxy in order to establish pliability while maintaining terminal strength, solderability and electrical performance. The epoxy inhibits the transfer of board stress to the MLCC body which reduces the potential for internal cracking that results in low IR or short circuit failures.

The company said that the system functions well for high voltage applications up to 3000VDC, minimising the risk of damage to the capacitor when potentially mishandled or exposed to extreme environmental conditions such as thermal cycling.

The HV C0G capacitors feature capacitance stability up to 125?C. They also exhibit low ESR at high frequencies, and can be used as snubbers or filters in applications such as switching power supplies and lighting ballasts. In addition to use in power supplies, these capacitors are widely used in industries related to hybrid automotive, telecommunications, medical, defence, aerospace, semiconductors and test/diagnostic equipment.
