Infineon Technologies has broadened its security chip solution with a programmable hardware-based release that enables protection of computing systems against deliberate attacks and accidental operator errors.

The OPTIGA Trust P generates and securely stores encryption keys for one-way and mutual authentication, thereby allowing to protect devices from malware, and to control access mechanisms for secure software updates.

The chip's programmability makes for a flexible solution. Any product that stores and exchanges confidential datawhether used in smart homes or factoriescan rely on the encrypted communications capability of this secure chip to enforce information privacy.

The chip has earned Common Criteria EAL 5+ certification, which addresses counterfeiting, privacy and security concerns. It uses public key cryptography to support both one-way and mutual authentication for anti-cloning applications.

The chip comes in a VQFN-32 5mmx5mm package, with 150KB memory. It runs the JavaCard OS, supports ECC, RSA, AES, TDES and SHA cryptography, with an ISO7816 UART system interface at 400Kbit/s.
