2W DC-DC converter powers high/low side gate drives

Murata Power Solutions has rolled out a series of 2W high isolation dual output DC/DC converters for powering "high side" and "low side" gate drives in bridge circuits using insulated-gate bipolar transistors and MOSFETs.

The MGJ2 series provides basic and supplementary insulation, with an isolation test voltage of 5.2kVDC. It features 12 models with input voltages including 5VDC, 12VDC, 15VDC and 24VDC. Each input yields three output voltage combinations, as follows: +15/-5VDC, +15/-8.7VDC or +20/-5VDC.

Murata MGJ2

The converters can operate at an extended temperature range of up to 100C, matching industrial-grade temperature ratings. Typical applications include high power AC/DC conversion, motor drives and solar power inverters.

With characterized dv/dt immunity, the converters can operate in fast switching applications. A partial discharge performance feature extends its lifetime.

The devices occupy a 1.96cm2 footprint, and achieve a power density of 0.81W/cm3. They also conform to the UL60950 safety standard, to which it awaits certification.

The devices are available in volume at $4.95, with lead times of up to 10 weeks.
