Capacitor implants power up load boards
Keywords:capacitor? Multitest? load board?
Multitest has introduced capacitor implants to increase the electrical performance of its load boards. The implants involve the following methods: placing the single capacitors close to the device under test, and adding the capacitance core as a layer between the power and the ground layer.
The application of both methods decreases the loop inductance in the power delivery network, and supports ambient-hot-cold applications ranging from -55C to 120C.
Capacitor implants are available in DUT pitches from 1mm to 0.5mm. They reduce inductance and impedance, as well as support resonance or tuning for noise reduction. In high speed applications, they can be applied to minimise voltage drop.
The embedded capacitance cores aim at high volume test and support any DUT pitch. They have a capacitance of 900pF per square inch.
Multitest also provides daughter card solutions to leverage the benefits of the implants.
