Bridgelux expanded its V Series line of chip on board LED arrays designed for sub-1000 lumen commercial and residential lighting applications, which require tight beam control.

The V Series is available in multiple light emitting surface (LES) sizes, electrical configurations, CCT and CRI combinations, which enable design-in flexibility and energy efficiencies. The LEDs are optimised for LED lamps, commercial track and spotlights, consumer down lights and other general applications.

The two additions, V10 and V15, produce up to 118LM/W. They claim a compelling total cost of ownership advantage over incandescent, halogen, and fluorescent technologies with greater energy efficiencies and a projected lifetime of over 20 years. Nominal lumen outputs range from 1,000 to 3,000 for V10 and V15 respectively.

The LED arrays are compatible with optics, drivers, and holders readily available from third party suppliers. They boast more than 9,000 hours of LM80 test data and R9 values that exceed California Energy Commission requirements for luminaires and lamps. They feature support for Energy Star and other rebate programs while also including ANSI compliant 3-step binning, thereby reducing SKUs while providing consistent high quality white-point light.

Typical applications for the light sources include down lights, track and spot lighting, and landscape lighting with the V15 positioned as an ideal replacement for 35W ceramic metal halide luminaires.

The company has reported a quarterly growth rate of 52 per cent, involving millions of V Series units shipped since its launch in September 2013. This reflects a tremendous adoption of the technology with only seven months on the market, Bridgelux said.
