Murata Power Solutions has expanded its portfolio of converters with the introduction of the OKDx-T/40 series of non-isolated point-of-load (PoL) DC/DC devices. The 40A, 132W digital converter is offered in three different package formats: through-hole, single-in-line and surface mount. The highly efficient (typically 97.2 per cent) fully regulated converters also promise high power density, added the company.

According to Murata, the PMBus interface enables power management features not previously available in analogue PoL converters. By interfacing the OKD converter to the system's I2C bus, a systems engineer can monitor critical system-level performance requirements that include Vin, Iin, Vout, Iout and operating temperature, detailed the company. The PMBus can also be used to set warning flags for temperature, Vin, Vout and Iout, and allows the user to customise parameters such as Vout, Vin turn on/off thresholds, output overvoltage protection, output current limit, and ramp up characteristics, to name a few, Murata noted.

OKDx-T/40 series

Advanced converter design features include digital current sharing (full power, no derating), non-linear transient response, optimised dead time control, synchronisation and phase spreading.

Accommodating the wide input voltage range from 4.5-14VDC, the OKDx-T/40-W12 output voltage is programmable from 0.6-3.3VDC. A graphical user interface (GUI) can be provided to assist the power engineer in designing modern power systems, the company indicated.

The OKD series measures just 30.85 x 20 x 8.2mm and is aimed at telecommunications, networking and distributed power applications.

Lead-time is from stock to 12 weeks, with pricing in the range of $16.90 for OEM quantities.
