CMOS cameras focus on machine vision apps

Teledyne DALSA expanded its Linea series of low-cost, high-value cameras with the introduction of a high resolution 8k line scan camera. The Linea cameras target the mainstream market for machine vision applications and claims to offer delivers high speed and responsivity at a lower cost.

Similar to the company's 2k and 4k models, the Linea 8k monochrome model is built on the same platform and acquires images at up to 80kHz line rates.

According to the company, the device features high responsivity in the visible and NIR wavelengths; multiple user coefficient and FFC calibration sets; programmable and flexible triggering; and support of camera link cables up to 10m.

The compact cameras are geared for applications such as postal and parcel inspection, materials grading, food and web inspection, rail and road inspection, and pharmaceutical inspection.
