Vishay debuts extremely-compact SPST analogue switches

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has announced three 200? precision monolithic quad single-pole single-throw (SPST) analogue switches that the company described as the smallest such devices in the market. The space-saving Vishay Siliconix DG2501, DG2502 and DG2503 are geared for wearable electronics and sensors and consumer and communication devices while offering high precision characterised by low parasitic capacitance, charge injection and leakage current.

Measuring 1.4mm x 1.4mm with a 0.35mm pitch and top-side lamination for increased ruggedness, the switches released today are 50 per cent smaller than the closest competing device and 95 per cent smaller than switches in the standard QFN16 package. SPST analogue switches

The switches provide low CD(OFF) of 2.6 pF, CD(ON) of 7.6pF, charge injection down to -0.7pC, and typical switch-on leakage current of 9pA. The DG2501, DG2502 and DG2503 offer high ESD tolerance > 8kV (human body model) and latch up current > 800mA per JESD78. Each switch conducts equally well in both directions when on and supports analogue signals up to the supply voltage.

The DG2501, DG2502 and DG2503 all feature four independently selectable SPST switches with closely matched channel resistance. The DG2501 is normally closed, while the DG2502 is normally open. The DG2503 has two normally open and two normally closed switches. All three devices feature guaranteed break-before-make operation for use in multiplexer applications. The switches operate from a single 1.8V to 5.5V power supply and offer logic thresholds of 1.4V and 1.8V at 3V and 5V inputs, respectively, to ensure low-voltage TTL/CMOS compatibility. The Vishay GREEN devices are RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.

Packaged in ultra-compact WCSP 4 bump by 4 bump array, samples and production quantities of the DG2501, DG2502 and DG2503 are available with lead times of 10 weeks for large orders.
