Configurable clock synthesiser touts low phase noise jitter

Exar Corp. has introduced a quad output, high frequency LVCMOS/LVDS/LVPECL configurable clock synthesiser. The XR81411 is capable of generating any frequency in the range of 10MHz to 800MHz with four independent PLLs, using a highly flexible delta-sigma modulator and a wide ranging VCO. According to the company, the clock outputs boast very low phase noise jitter of sub 0.2ps with exceptionally low power consumption.

The XR81411 can be used with a standard crystal or an external system clock and each independent output can be configured to select from four different frequency multiplier settings to support a variety of applications. Each clock synthesiser includes an integer/fractional divider allowing output frequency resolution of less than 2Hz intervals.

The clock synthesiser has a VCO range of 2GHz to 3GHz and features RMS phase jitter of 125MHz (12kHz to 20MHz) at The XR81411 is available in a RoHS compliant, green/halogen free, space-saving 5mm x 5mm LGA package. Prices start at $10.50 each for the XR81411 in 1,000-piece quantities. Samples and demo boards are available by request.
