Integrated Device enables wireless phone charging
Keywords:Wireless?
Integrated Device Technology introduced the Wireless PowerShare, a charging solution that enables users to wirelessly charge a mobile device by setting it atop or near an enabled smartphone. The multi-mode, multi-function chip supports all major wireless power standards for magnetic resonance and magnetic induction charging.
The Wireless PowerShare, a member of IDT's P9700 family of semiconductors, enables a seamless transition between the Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP) standard for magnetic resonance, the Power Matters Alliance (PMA) and Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) standards for magnetic induction. The chip delivers 5W to 10W output and provides greater flexibility to OEMs.
"Consumers have been asking why, with all the remarkable advances in electronics, we remain tethered by power cords," said Arman Naghavi, IDT's vice president of Analog Power Technology.
"Our Wireless PowerShare technology is a big leap in the right direction, allowing devices to charge one another, free from the tangle of wires," he added.
