Compact receiver delivers faster wireless charging

Integrated Device Technology has announced its P9027 wireless power receiver that delivers faster charging for mobile devices such as smart phones and phablets. The magnetic induction receiver boasts 80 per cent peak system level efficiency and improved overall thermal performance.

Supporting the Wireless Power Consortium's Qi standard, the P9027 is an 8W receiver featuring a compact solution sizeapproximately 37mm2and requiring six fewer capacitors than competitors'. With the P9027, there is less board space and lower materials cost.

The device's proprietary alignment guide optimises inductive coupling with the transmitter to maximise coil-to-coil power efficiency. The 3V to 7V adjustable output voltage range is capable of driving a variety of downstream power management ICs, while proprietary foreign object detection (FOD) ensures safe operation in the presence of metal objects.
