To improve product quality and increase manufacturing efficiency and speed while reducing costs, Fujitsu Ltd launched the Glovia Enterprise MES, a manufacturing execution system that enables information on the production activities of factories around the world.

Based on knowledge collected for over 30 years, the Glovia MES paves the way for production improvements through sharing of production know-how. It standardises the methods for collecting and managing production performance data, which vary across factories, and thus enables production performance comparisons between facilities. This facilitates the spread of knowledge, resulting in improved productivity for the company.

The MES also facilitates coordination by linking head offices with each of their production facilities, allowing the head office a timely grasp of inventory information and production progress. This enables faster decision-making and allows customers to quickly adjust their production organisation according to market needs.

With the MES, production facilities can optimise their inventory by allowing users to determine when to replenish a supply in relation to the line's production stage. It is also easier to identify parts or materials that cause product defects and functionality problems using the MES, as it provides a detailed management of information from the factory floor.

The MES is available for shipment on Mar. 13 and comes in three packages. The Basic Management package, which costs about $16,700 (2 million yen), must be bundled with either Process Management or Inventory Management, which both cost approximately $25,000 (3 million yen).
