Smallest dual-channel filter targets ZigBee RF4CE remotes

STMicroelectronics introduced the market's smallest integrated dual differential filter with a 1.2x3.4mm2 footprint and a height of less than 560m after reflow, allowing designers to streamline circuit design and board layout, reduce product size, and make room for new functions.

This BOM-saving DLPF-GP-01D3 filter can replace up to 16 discrete surface-mount components and save 35mm2 of PCB area in ZigBee RF4CE remotes and consumer electronics equipment such as TVs, alarms, lighting, home gateways and others.

ST's DLPF-GP-01D3 dual-channel filter

The GreenPeak GP540 and GP561 RF4CE communication controllers enable cheap, single-layer PCB integration, which is supported by the new dual filter from ST. This allows short, straight tracks for signal, ground and common connections between the two devices, a result of ST's integrated passive device technology leveraged with non-conductive glass substrate.

The two integrated filter channels also provide high attenuation outside the 2,400MHz to 2,500MHz frequency range and have low-in-bandwidth insertion and return loss. The dual-channel filter is currently available in an 11-bump flip-chip package, priced from $0.23 for 5,000 units.
