Here are the winners of the annual "Best of Sensors Expo awards" at the 2015 Sensors Expo, held in Long Beach, Calif.
A panel of judges and experts from Sensors Magazine handed 14 awards in two categories¡ªApplication and Innovation¡ªto the best applications of sensor technology and the most innovative sensor technologies.
The awarding ceremony was held Wednesday.
Honourable Mention ¨C Application Award: Omron Electronic Components, Human Vision Components

Omron's Human Vision Component (HVC) is an image sensing component that can be embedded in a variety of devices and equipment. Using 10 algorithms from Omron's OKAO vision sensing technology allows the HVC to recognise human conditions and intentions through face recognition, estimation of facial expressions, age estimation and gaze estimation. Honourable Mention ¨C Application Award: ROHM Co., Ltd, Sensor Medal

ROHM's Sensor Medal is an ultra-compact wearable sensor platform containing a variety of embedded sensors, including an accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope and pressure sensor, including a low-power MCU and a Bluetooth LE IC. Honourable Mention ¨C Application Award: charity:water, Afridev Sensor

Working alongside Google.org, the organisation charity:water has developed the Afridev Sensor, an open-source remote sensor technology for monitoring water flow. The sensors are currently being dispatched in developing countries for a variety of projects involving delivering clean water to impoverished areas. (Source: charity:water)
