Intel has subsumed a power-optimisation EDA startup based in France for an undisclosed amount. Docea Power was founded in 2006 by brothers Ghislain and Sylvain Kaiser who had previously worked at STMicroelectronics with the goal of developing a suite of EDA tools to support the reduction of power consumption in electronics systems.
Over the subsequent years the company evolved to become a power and thermal modeling and analysis company. Its Aceplorer product uses an XML-based description for capturing power behaviour from informal requirements. The company's main products are Aceplorer and AceThermalModeler.
