Marvell offers quad-core LTE carrier aggregation platform

Marvell has rolled out what it describes as a cost-effective R10 LTE carrier aggregation platform with 20+20MHz support, and advanced security and communication features for mass deployment by global operators. The quad-core 64bit ARMADA Mobile PXA1918 SoC is geared to address the growing demands for high-performance R10 LTE Advanced CA smartphones and tablets, said the company.

The ARMADA Mobile PXA1918 platform represents Marvell's latest advancements in Category 7 LTE modem technology development. Additionally, the cost-optimised mobile processor features an ARM Cortex A53 processor and supports today's most popular cellular communication standards including: TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and GSM/EDGE.

The ARMADA Mobile PXA1918 platform features advanced multi-level multi-domain security and memory saving technology, 5-mode support (LTE TDD/FDD, DC-HSPA+, TD-HSPA+, GSM/EDGE) with DSDS, and R10 LTE Advanced TDD/FDD Carrier Aggregation Cat7, supporting up to 2x20MHz bandwidths with peak speed of 300Mb/s downlink and 100Mb/s uplink, detailed the company.

In addition, it flaunts a DC-HSPA+ for 42Mb/s downlink and 11Mb/s uplink, an ARM Cortex A53 processor at up to 1.5GHz, advanced graphics and imaging processor supporting up to 13MP camera, integrated RF transceiver, supporting both cellular and GNSS communications, and support for latest Android OS.

The company also revealed that the platform touts Marvell's Avastar low-power wireless connectivity combo radio, high performance Wi-Fi 11n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2 with latest feature set, highly integrated front-end and power-efficient design, and advanced features such as VoLTE, eMBMS, RCS, VoWi-Fi, IMS, and DSDS technology.
