Infineon Technologies has revealed its SupIRBuck voltage regulators that feature an integrated PWM controller, MOSFETs and bootstrap diode, as well as PMBus control. The programmable I2C-based digital interface, which allows remote testing using telemetry, not only cuts design and test times, but also reduces time-to-market, added the company.

The IR3806x series of PMBus-enabled SupIRBuck DC/DC regulators includes four devices with output current ratings of 6A, 15A, 25A and 35A. The 6A IR38060 comes in a 5mm x 6mm PQFN package, while the 15A IR38062, 25A IR38063 and 35A IR38064 are housed in 5mm x 7mm PQFN packages.

All of the synchronous regulators are specified for the industrial temperature range of -40C to 125C. The parts support a switching frequency of up to 1.5MHz and achieve high telemetry accuracy (IOUT 5 per cent). Reference voltage accuracy is 0.5 per cent.

SupIRBuck regulators are intended for applications in data centres, network storage, wireless infrastructure, mass computing and industrial automation. They are configured via the PMBus and the configuration stored in internal memory. Seventy-five PMBus commands allow precise run-time control, fault status monitoring and telemetry of parameters such as VIN, VOUT, IOUT, T and POUT.

Alternatively, the buck regulators can operate as standard analogue regulators without any programming and can provide current and temperature telemetry in analogue format.
