The ELI series of embedded displays from Future Designs has two new WQVGA LCD models. The ELI43-CP and ELI43-CR have 4.3in PCAP (projected capacitive) and resistive touch screens and offer a plug-and-play solution for use with single-board computers, such as Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone Black, and Windows-based units. When teamed with a Linux or Windows computer board, some ELI options can provide a complete production-ready embedded display for under $100.

ELI products require just three standard connections: an HDMI video input, a 12VDC power source, and a USB port for the touch screen.

Once plugged into a single-board computer, ELI automatically formats to the correct resolution and picture size. The ELI43-CP provides a brightness of 470 nits and a contrast ratio of 500:1. The ELI43-CR offers a brightness of 420 nits with the same 500:1 contrast ratio as the ELI43-CP. Both displays have an operating temperature range of -20C to +70C.

The ELI43-CP with a PCAP touch screen has an MSRP of $94. The ELI43-CR with a resistive touch screen has an MSRP of $74. Volume prices for the ELI43-CP and ELI43-CR are less than $75 and $60, respectively.
