Linear Technology has released LTC5548, a double-balanced passive mixer that operates as an up or down converter over a frequency range of 2 GHz to 14 GHz. The device has integrated balun transformers at the RF and LO ports, providing 50-? match from 2 GHz to 13.6 GHz and from 1 GHz to 12 GHz at each port, respectively, while enabling single-ended operation. The IF port is also capable of DC to 6 GHz, which allows it to support wideband transmitters and receivers at the baseband.

The LTC5548 provides high linearity with an IIP3 of 24.4 dBm at 5.8 GHz and 21.4 dBm at 9 GHz. It also features port-to-port isolation, minimizing LO leakage and easing external filtering requirements. The part can be used in a wide range of microwave applications, including broadband microwave backhaul, 5.8-GHz unlicensed band and 14-GHz LTE-Advanced wireless services, satellite broadband transceivers, radar systems, satellite modems, and RF test equipment.

Housed in a 12-lead, 32-mm plastic QFN package, the LTC5548 operates from a single 3.3-V supply and draws a nominal supply current of 120 mA. It is rated for operation over a temperature range of -40C to +105C.

Prices for the LTC5548 start at $9.50 each in lots of 1000 units. Samples and production quantities are available immediately.
